What do you do when you don’t have long to live and there is nothing left to lose? For the woman (played by Joke Tjalsma) in Drift, it is now or never. To feel some excitement, she goes to a mysterious place from her childhood where she was strictly forbidden to go as a child. Because:
“Things are happening there that are not suitable for your eyes.”
Does she dare to ‘drift’, amidst illegal street races, shady passers-by, and fogged-up car windows, or is she held back by her own idea of decency?
Drifting: a driving technique in which you intentionally lose grip while flying through a corner in a controlled manner. Control and courage are crucial elements to achieve the right balance between adrenaline and safety.

On the top deck of parking garage De Klanderij, right in the center of Leeuwarden, you peek into a story without safe boundaries. Under the stars, with the city as a backdrop and the sounds of live music, traffic, and nightlife in the background.
The production is directed by Eva Meijering. As an actress, she has appeared in productions including Nacht, Sâlt, and Fanfare. Additionally, she has performed with Theater Artemis, Bontehond, and Het Zuidelijk Toneel. Frank Siera (Sâlt) wrote the text. His texts are characterized by their philosophical approach and musicality; they have been translated into various languages and published in literary magazines. The lead role is played by Joke Tjalsma, who has appeared on television in a.o. Oogappels, Bodem, Hertenkamp, and Gooische vrouwen and previously performed at Tryater in a.o Part-time Paradise and Swimbad. Actress Ali Zijlstra has appeared in various Tryater productions and in the feature film Schneider vs. Bax by Alex van Warmerdam and the award-winning feature film Bankier van het Verzet.
