Can be seen by everyone aged 8 and over at Tryater in-house during the Christmas holidays
Tryater is sixty years old; we celebrate this throughout the 2025-2026 theatre season! With our audience, young or old, loyal visitors or first-time visitors. During the Christmas holidays, as part of our anniversary programme, the successful school performance Anwar and the Wolf will be performed at Tryater in-house, for everyone from 8 to 108 years old.
Anwar is a boy who has been wandering through Europe for a while. One evening he suddenly comes face to face with a hungry wolf. In an attempt to save himself, Anwar starts telling the wolf stories. His mother used to do that when there was no food. Anwar tells story after story, but the beast remains hungry.
Anwar and the Wolf is a visual and musical story about borders. Five languages are spoken in the performance, it would be a miracle if you could understand them all. Travel like Anwar through sometimes unknown languages. You don’t have to understand everything to understand what someone wants to tell you.
Tryater explores the boundaries between language, music and image with Anwar and the Wolf. In this multidisciplinary performance (language no problem) an actor, a musician and a performing visual artist tell the story of the young Anwar who has left his home country.
During the Christmas period, the foyer of the Tryater building is transformed into a place where (light) festivals/rituals from different cultures come together. A place of connection with each other, regardless of where you come from. The month of December is an excellent period of looking back, looking ahead and contemplation.
