Talent development
For many years already, talent development has been an important spearhead of Tryater. We feel the responsibility to be the development place in Friesland for future generations of players and makers. We do this by means of established trajectories and close partnerships.
TAILOR-MADE TALENT DEVELOPMENT: MAKERS 2025-2028
During the 2025-2028 policy period, Tryater will mentor three promising theatre makers: Michelle Samba, Romke Gabe Draaijer and Stijn Schootstra. We are giving them the opportunity to develop their expertise.
YOUNG TRYATER
Young Tryater exists since 2009 as an internal training program for talents from Fryslân. Young Tryater takes place once every four years. Admission is suitable for students who are studying at an arts program (MBO/HBO).
In addition to their studies, students follow a two-year intensive curriculum focused on acting and making theater and are taught by several professionals from the field and teachers who work at drama schools.
Young Tryater 5 is currently in full swing. A next Young Tryater program will take place in the period 2028-2031.
TWEESPRAAK
Tweespraak is a talent development program and collaboration between six cultural institutions in Leeuwarden: VHDG, Tryater, Popfabryk, Keunstwurk, New Noardic Wave, and Explore The North.
In this program, three young artists from Fryslân are mentored in creating an interdisciplinary work that is presented annually at the Broeikas arts festival in Leeuwarden.
STATION NOORD
Station Noord is a collaboration of the major performing arts organizations from Fryslân, Groningen and Drenthe.
We have been affiliated with Station Noord since the beginning and we guide two to three new makers each year. Admission is via Station Noord and is suitable for new makers with a professional theater education or several years of professional experience.
